Mastering The Art Of Stretching A Canvas
Share
As an artist, I believe that presentation is just as crucial as the artwork itself. One of the most challenging aspects of preparing a canvas is the stretching process.
Stretching an artwork may feel intimidating, but it's easier than you might think. Begin by measuring your canvas and choosing stretcher bars that are at least 16cm smaller in diameter. Next, lay the frame over the canvas, making sure it's smooth and free of wrinkles. Then, secure the canvas to the back of the stretcher bars with staples, starting at the center and working your way out for an even, taut stretch.
In this quick video, I’ll share my methods for achieving a perfectly taut canvas every time!
